by Kevin Sinclair

She floated down through the shadows
And landed without being seen
Somewhere near a heart trembled
While the solo guitarist cursed
As he broke another string.
Hiding silently in the shadows
Watching every move he made
Eyes shining and softly smiling
Music flowed from her lips
It could have been a love song
Or a haunting melody sung to tease
The guitarist looked bewildered while
Someone in the audience happened to sneeze.
Planet Earth I'm here with you
My feet are firmly on the ground
And though it seems I'm standing still
Inside I know that in reality
I'm slowly spinning around.
From the shadows came a whisper
Followed by a blown kisses
It settled softly on his cheek
While the sound of gentle laughter
Echoed like bells in his ears
His fingers caressed the strings
Inspired like never before while
The audience sat in his hand.
She patiently waiting for the surrender
Knowing that it would be complete
And a heart ached with longing as
The guitarist's eyes filled with tears
Joyful in the victory of defeat.
