Today

Today we are what we have been
The total of the choices we made
growth has never come easy
There has always been a price to be paid
While we think we know reality
There are always alternative ways
Open minds and open hearts
Will lead to sunnier days.

Today we still have choices to make
To turn left or to turn right
To do nothing or to take a risk
To be courageous or to live in fright
It is best to move forward slowly
Taking one step at a time
You know you can do it
Walk through the rain into sunshine.

Today is the only day we have
To build foundations for the future we want
We can squander the opportunities
Or write a new script with a new font
There are only opportunities to learn
When we may fail along the way
Our lives are full of choices to make
We can create a new day.
