(Inspired by Terri)
by Kevin Sinclair

Ever since the day that I met you
I have felt closer to my home
And the tears ran down my face
Knowing that I wasn't alone
When we went our separate ways
I never saw you again
My life is more bearable now
Ever since you eased my pain.
She touched my heart with her smiling eyes
Conveyed to me her warmth and peace
Slowly I felt the chains breaking
And I had gained my release
If I said that it was love
We'd both know that it's not true
It was just that I cared enough
To share myself with you.
The tears well in my eyes
As I recall myself saying
I'm so lonesome I could cry
You said you'd be staying
So that I wouldn't be alone
I appreciate the words you said
As you understood the feeling so well
Of wishing that I were dead.
Well I lie awake in my bed at night
And your smiling face flashes through my mind
I sometimes find myself wondering
How could anyone have been so kind
If I said that it was love
We'd both know that it's not true
It was just that you cared enough
To share myself with you.
