Took the Greyhound to Lexington
Wanted to take in the views
There were smiles all the while
As there was nothing but good news
Sally played all my songs
The ones I love to hear
I sang along in tune
We were full of good cheer.
Want to fly with the eagles
Soaring up above this world
To have my wings spread out wide
To glide, twist and twirl
I want to be the hunter
Rather than the prey
To be strong and true
Each and every day.
"I am" she said
For all to hear
I wiped my eyes as
I had shed a tear.
We followed that highway
On until it was night
Heard the sound of independence call
Knew what we were doing was right
Sally softly recited poems
They were all I had happened to write
I lay back with my eyes closed
My senses were alive and bright.
Want to fly with the eagles
And want to hold you tight
To love and be tender
But not a moth drawn to a light
I want a ring on my finger
All gold and shiny and bright
To give you all my love
To fill your body with delight.
"We are" she said
For all to hear
Everyone looked around
And let out a cheer!
