Article – Who's Your Guru?

The other day I was talking to a guy at the health club I just joined. (Never had time when I was working for someone else.) We started talking about our personal trainers. If you aren't familiar with the term, these are fitness experts who are educated to design work-out routines based on an individuals strengths, needs and goals.

Anyway, Rick said something that struck me right between the eyes. "I got so confused reading all the books and fitness magazines. Everyone has a different opinion of what works the best. I finally figured if I was going to work out, I might as well pick one expert, listen to them and follow their program."

Later, as I was driving my sore body home, I thought about how appropriate Rick's comment was to Internet Marketing. Everyone's an expert. (Even people who have yet to sell their first eBook.) And there are a million programs, books, secrets, techniques and tactics that will work for you.

The problem is, you can easily fall into what my favorite business school professor called, "Analysis Paralysis". That's where a lot of people are stuck. They keep reading, and it gets in the way of actually doing something.

***** I was guilty *****

I was guilty of this, too. I must have bought several hundred dollars worth of books and courses before I found what worked for me.

Fortunately, the expert I decided to follow was, in hindsight, an excellent choice. And by following his advice and listening to his ideas, I have built up a couple of successful income streams.

My point isn't that my "guru" is the right one for everyone. The point is to pick one or maybe a couple of people you really respect, and model them. Of course, make sure they are actually successful in their own businesses first. But when you find someone you respect and whose style you like, listen to their advice and follow what they recommend in their writings.

***** Save Your Brain *****

Following this strategy can save lots of brain cells that you would spend switching strategies and tactics. It avoids confusion and gives you a good point of reference from which to work.

You don't have to keep reading and searching for the latest eBooks. Assume your guru knows the latest tactics and will advise you of how well they work.

I'm not saying you never look at another eBook or eZine again, it's just that you have one primary star you follow, it's that much easier to find your way.

Article –How To Build Your 'TESTIMONIAL BLOG' - And Skyrocket Your Profits Effortlessly!

If you know how to blog, already sell a product or service, and have customers or clients, you have all the ingredients to set up an ultra-powerful system to convert a mind-boggling fraction of your prospects into customers - without lifting a finger.

Think I'm pulling your leg?  Well, I'm not.  This short how-to guide will show you exactly how to tap into a primitive human instinct that guides everybody - including your prospective buyers - and use it to position you, your business and your product or service as their best choice.

I'm talking about the immensely powerful factor called 'Social Proof'.

In a book based on groundbreaking research, Dr.Robert Cialdini revealed the power of the 'herd mentality' in marketing to a crowd.  It is an automatic, instinctive reaction of animals (and humans) to follow a crowd - because, in the majority of cases, it is protective, beneficial, and can even determine survival.

That's why we gather in communities, seek opinions and feedback, are influenced by peer pressure.  Going with the majority opinion means you don't need to research every single decision you make every day - and without this support system, life would be extremely complex and stressful.

But how is this relevant to marketing your business with a blog?

Simple.  The highest form of social proof a potential buyer is looking for is validation of your product or service by peers.

* You want to know what your friends think about a movie - before going to see it. 

* You ask your colleagues about the food - before eating at a new restaurant. 

* You talk with employees and staff - before thinking about working at a new firm.

By offering an easy way for potential buyers to discover the great things about your business and what you offer, you've short-circuited the process and can get a hesitating prospect to make a buying decision almost instantly.

How to do it?  Use your blog.

There are 4 steps to the process:

* Set up your blog to allow comments and feedback from visitors

* Start discussions about various facets of your business

* Invite clients and customers to participate in the interaction

* Steer the conversation to your strengths - and showcase it for your prospects

The hardest part is getting your clients and customers to post to your blog.  Be proactive about it. Invite them to share their thoughts and opinions about your product.  Ask them to write about their experiences doing business with you. 

  - What did they like most? 
  - What did they find most useful? 
  - How did your product impact their life, make it better?

On your 'testimonial blog', lead the discussion to specific topics.  Post a short note and invite comments from your clients.  When visitors to the blog read the exchanges, they get priceless insight into your company's culture and values - and that's practically impossible to share in any other way.

But simply putting up a 'testimonial blog' and wishing that your clients will flock there to post messages just won't work.  You need to offer them an incentive.

You may post special offers on the blog frequently, so clients will keep coming back.  You may offer discounts to customers who regularly leave feedback or post comments.  You could give away gifts and coupons in exchange for their suggestions.  Give them a place in the spotlight by featuring their success story in your newsletter or promotional material.

Get creative.  Put yourself in your customer's shoes and think about what might make them excited about posting to your blog.

Be careful, however, not to cross the line where you are perceived as offering a 'bribe' in exchange for testimonials. Your role should be a facilitator of discussion about your product and service, and should not try and manipulate the nature of the feedback itself.

If you give great quality to your clients, that will become obvious in the conversation on your blog.  But if you are not offering value, beware - this ultra-powerful strategy could turn against you and become deadly to your business.

Social proof is a double-edged sword.  Grab it by the handle, and you'll have more business than you can manage!

Article – Tips On Boosting Your Self-Confidence

How you feel about yourself truly does affect your interaction with others.

It truly saddens me when I hear women using negative talk when referring to themselves. We aren't born with self confidence but it is something that we gain throughout our lives. There are many things that we encounter over the years to help build or break that confidence but ultimately it is up to us to maintain our own self-confidence.

Those who lack self-confidence are missing valuable opportunities for happiness, fun, growth and, often, love.  Lack of self-confidence can be made up of several different aspects like: guilt, anger turned inward, too high expectations of perfection, false sense of humility, fear of change or of making mistakes, and depression. 

Following are some strategies that you can apply to help enhance your self-esteem:

+ Start off each morning and end each day with a positive statement or thought. Create your own mantra. (i.e: "I am intelligent", "I will have a positive day", "I will succeed".)

+ Get to know the TRUE you and accept yourself. The more you accept your true self the more others will do the same.

+ Make a list of all your positive characteristics and achievements. Keep adding to this list as time goes on and be sure to keep your list in a place where you can access it and read it at will.

+ Choose your words/thoughts carefully: Take time to replace negative thoughts with positive ones. If you are faced with a challenging task -- instead of saying something like: "I will never get this done on time" try to rephrase that and say something like: "When I finish this task I will treat myself to something nice" or "This may be challenging but I can do this".

+ Take what you are good at and enhance it. Let others know about it! Hold you head up high and proud and know you have a special gift inside of you.

Building up self-confidence takes time and commitment but it is well worth it. You will soon find yourself embracing yourself and giving off a very positive energy that will surely come back to you.
