Article – What is Soft Marketing?

Whether you are marketing on-line or off-line, your potential customers are scared, scarred, and skeptical. Consumers, today, are quite resistant to sales messages.

In the mid 70's, a store could run a "10% off" sale and people would flock in. Then the big stores got into the discounting mentality. Now it is common to see "70% off" sales - especially in jewelry. The consumer is not too long a fool. These promotions do not produce the wanted response anymore.

Repeated, high powered sales events create a downward spiral. Eventually you cannot offer a big enough "deal" to get the public excited. The big three car makers played this game for three years. By January 2006 they found themselves in deep financial trouble. They had borrowed customers from the future by offering a bigger, better sale every couple months. It is a deep grave from which to crawl out.

Successful businesses, now and in the future, will be practicing "soft marketing". To make sales today, marketing efforts have to come in under the consumer's sales-pitch radar.

Many of the big companies have known this for some time because of their on-going marketing analysis. You can take advantage of their research for free.

Look at Coca-Cola for example.

Coke was famous for their flashy, high-powered TV ads. Today you seldom see such ads. Have they cut back on their marketing expenditure? No. In fact, they are now spending more using soft marketing techniques. Most people do not even realize they are being advertised to. That is the beauty and power of soft marketing.

Here are two ways Coke is using a soft marketing approach to build profits and market share.

1. You may have seen Coke products displayed on TV shows and movies. "American Idol" is a popular TV show, with about 35 million viewers. The three judges are a big part of the success of the show. In front of each judge is a tall Coke cup. These characters, in effect, are recommending Coke to their viewers. Coke pays a lot of money for this and sells a lot of product based on this endorsement type advertising.

2. Coke brings new loyal customers in the "back door" using nostalgia products. Coke collectibles are a huge market today. And once caught up in the hobby of Coke collectibles, a person, and the whole family, become avid Coke drinkers. And Coke is being advertised to everyone who enters that home.

Coke's soft marketing techniques have made them almost bullet-proof in the soft drink market. They have built an image of being the most popular soda. Since it is human nature to want to be on the winning team, swarms of new customers are joining the group every day.

Here are three powerful soft marketing tactics you can start using today.

1. Become known as an expert. Credibility and trust are the two most important ways to succeed in any business. Write and submit articles and press releases. If you cannot write, hire someone to do it for you. There are several good writing service web sites on the internet. They are very cheap. Also, you should join a "Private Label Rights" content site. They provide already written articles that you can put your name on as your own. This is pure gold for on-line or off-line marketing.

If you have a business on Main Street, your local newspaper should be your best friend. Do whatever you can to develop a relationship with them. You may or may not be able to get your news articles and releases printed for free, but even buying the space will return big dividends.

2. Give away a free report on the topic of your product or service. Your local newspaper will probably give you some free editorial space in the beginning if the report is of interest and free to their subscribers. A real life example is a realtor in this area that offers a free report - "10 Ways To Get Top Dollar For Your Home". It reveals what is valuable, and what is not, when getting your home ready for sale. With this he becomes the expert in the consumer's mind and a person who cares about them.

You can get a book or report written for you for a few hundred dollars by the same on-line companies that ghost-write articles and press releases or from your "Private Label Rights" membership site. This realtor has been using the same report for over ten years now. It is estimated this report has generated about $1.6 million in profits.

3. Partner with related, non-competing businesses. One dry cleaning operation partnered with clothing stores in the community. The store, when selling a garment, would give a gift certificate to the customer. The gift certificate was good for a free first-time cleaning and pressing of that new garment.

The customer thought the store was paying for the dry cleaning. The fact is the dry cleaner was giving the service for free. The customer saw the store as being a "hero" and the store saw the dry cleaner as being a "hero". Both stores gained a load of new and repeat customers.

Use these soft marketing strategies or think up your own to fit your product or service. Have some brainstorming sessions with other energetic, savvy business people, like you. The resulting ideas will amaze you, and your traffic and profits will increase as if by magic.

Article – Free Website Promotion Tactics

Is there such a thing as free website promotion? Is that even feasible?

It's a definite yes! Your new website can get huge traffic in no time thanks to free website promotion tactics.

How does this free website promotion work? What are things to be done?

1. List your website.

Look for the hottest Internet directories and enlist your site there. This is the easiest and most effective free website promotion tactic. Start with this easy step. Just don't forget to prep your website and make it optimised for a higher chance to get accepted in your directory of choice.

2. Join your forums.

One reason why forums are created is for free website promotion for everyone. Log in, post actively, let them know about your site in every post and you can easily attract instant visitors right there.

3. Write a press release.

Release your writing prowess and start up a press release that advertises your site! This is a free website promotion tactic that you can do anytime. Type a brief paragraph or two and email it to your friends, colleagues, internet e-zines, newspapers and other media to drive massive traffic to your website. 

4. Write an article.

Write articles relevant to your website with useful information for anyone interested in the topic. On the concluding paragraph, mention your website in passing. This article works as an advertorial and doubles as a free promotion for your website.

5. Be friendly online.

You need to be friendly to other webmasters. Why, you ask? So they can link you immediately! Establish contacts and never tire of link requests and exchanges.

6. Let the whole world know about your site.

What is free website promotion without the word of mouth? Insert your website, its URL and features in daily conversations and let the good news spread from one mouth to another!

7. Make a banner ad.

Make a banner ad for your site and ask another webmaster to do the same for his site. Then swap!

When you make a website, you need not pay anything to promote it if you are willing to devote a little time working on the tactics discussed above.

Article – Who do you BELIEVE You Are?

If I asked you to describe yourself, what self-image would you paint?  Another way to put it is this: Who do you believe you are?

Your self-image is exactly what the term says – a mosaic of ideas you hold about your own self. In short – how you view your own personality, capabilities, skills, body, mind and personal potential.

But while most agree it's important to have a good self-image, very few people seem to know how to acquire one – or even how they got the self-image they now have.

**The History of Your Self Image

You began to form your self image and sense of "worth" as a very young child. The important people in your life sent you constant messages about yourself. Over the years these messages were collected in your impressionable subconscious mind – and have creating todays “self image.”

Then over the years "belief" moved in and set those messages into mental cement. The result is that today you BELIEVE you actually ARE your subconscious collection of other people's impressions of you. This process has continues to this day – and tends to reinforce what you already believe about your self.

**Think About That for a Moment

And the really interesting thing about “beliefs” is this: They are usually NOT open to question or reason. We just *believe* them to be so.

So if you *believe* you lack self-confidence, are a poor public speaker, do not know how to lead others, will never be successful, cannot create a good relationship, and so on – guess what. You will defend that belief, even to yourself!

This occurs because intense emotions always come along with beliefs. And this emotional “cement” causes your brain to resist any attempt to question your beliefs with “reason.”

Plus in the meantime your subconscious mind, which has a photographic memory of every event of your life, will make SURE your actions reflect your beliefs.

**How to Overhaul Your Self-Image

Your self image determines what you will (and will not) achieve in your life. Are you who you want to be? Are you living the life you want to live? If the answer is no – it’s time for a complete overhaul of your self image. Anything else will just be a band-aid that will simply create more of the same.

After over 35 years in the field of psychology, there is one thing I can absolutely guarantee to you. That one this is this: YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY *NOT* WHO YOU THINK YOU ARE! Your self image does not mirror who you really are today.

You are NOT that collection of painful or limiting memories.

You are not that kid who was always told to speak only when spoken to. You are not that "clumsy" girl who fell a lot only because she needed corrective glasses. You are not "stupid" because you had more interest in drawing than reading and math. You are not "a failure" because your first lemonade stand (or MLM business) was a total bust.

You are none of those things. You are *not* your past history. So stop *believing* that old stuff – and stop acting as though it were true. Here's a reminder of what you REALLY are:

**1. You are Totally Unique

There is literally no one else like you. No one else thinks like you, has your ideas, or does things the way you do things. No one else has your unique set of talents and abilities. Your brain is as unique as your fingerprints. No one has your mind and memories. No one! You are NOT "ordinary." Actually no one is! Stand up and carry yourself with dignity, because this IS your life. You and only you live in your – and it is your unique right to decide how to best do that.

**2. Your "Limits" are Not Real

It is today an accepted truth that we really create our own reality. You have a choice to simply *react* to what is happening to and around you – or you can choose to *respond.* There is a huge difference between reacting and responding. Reacting is an automatic knee-jerk response to life – while responding involves making a conscious choice.

**3. You Have Unlimited Personal Power

Here's something else I can guarantee: Most of those old limiting beliefs about your self will NOT hold up under conscious examination. And once you begin to challenge this old stuff, you will discover that what you thought were your "limits" do not actually exist.

The greatest personal power you have is the power to choose your own thoughts.

Read that sentence again!

The late Earl Nightingale said: "You become what you think." The truth of this is so powerful it is almost overwhelming. You and you alone decide what you will think -- and what you will believe your limits and potentials are. And you and you alone will decide what to do with this awesome power.

The fact is: YOU can recreate your self, and build and strengthen virtually any aspect of your being or area of your life. Just choose to consciously BUILD YOUR OWN BELIEFS and take action! I’ve personally been down in the trenches too – and can guarantee the way out is simply a decision! Just do it!
