Article – What Have You Done Today To Promote Your Business?

Promoting your business on the internet is a never ending process. You cannot afford to place some advertisements and then sit back to watch the results roll in. To do so would doom your business to failure. Instead, each day, you need to be doing something to promote your business.

So what are some of the things you could be doing each day to promote your business? I will run through some ideas for you. This is not a complete list – just some ideas to get you started.

Write An Article

A great way to demonstrate your expertise and to entice people to your web site is to write an article and submit it to various newsletters. Ensure that you choose newsletters your prospective customers are likely to be reading. Ensure that at the end of your article is a resource box that refers the reader to your site or your ezine.

Invite Referrals

Amend your site to include a request that your visitors refer your site to their friends. If you publish an ezine, again include a request that they forward to their friends. If you don’t ask people to do this, they usually won’t. It doesn’t take much to add this request.

Work On Your Web Pages To Make Them Visitor Friendly

Review one of your web pages to ensure that it is focused on satisfying the needs of your target market. Ensure that it contains plenty of benefits regarding your product or service. Also, ensure that it has a call to action – tell your visitors what they need to do to acquire your product or service. Make it easy and straight forward for them. Double check your site to ensure that visitors can navigate easily around it.

Add Interesting Content

Add a new page to your website that contains content that your visitors will be interested in reading. Ensure that the page is submitted to the search engines also. This page could be an article you wrote for your ezine (or other ezines) or something topical that your visitors will find useful. Again, demonstrate your expertise and through this work on building trust with your visitors. Trust will translate into orders for your product or service.

Bid On Some Keywords

Pay-per-click search engines allow advertisers to bid on certain keywords. The advertiser pays for the traffic sent to their site. For example, if you have a health business and your best key words are "low fat diet", then you can bid on these words. If no-one else has set up bids on these words, you may be able to bid low (subject to which search engine you are using).

One of the best pay-per-click search engines available is overture.com – they provide a very good service, have one of the largest audiences and are worth checking out. Also, as an alternative, check out Google Adwords which is also a very good option.

Look For Reciprocal Link Opportunities

Spend a little time looking for places where you can request reciprocal links. These are almost as effective as the search engines in providing free targeted traffic to your web site. Consider sites where you can have your articles appear with a link to your site. Be creative in your thinking and don’t just search for opportunities to trade links. Don’t be afraid to ask for other sites to recommend your site to their visitors.

Review Your Banner Ads

Is there any way that you can improve the click through rate of your banner ads? Consider the design of your banner. Test some improvements and see what difference they make. Look for ways that you can improve the targeting of your banner. Maybe even look at changing banner exchanges or joining an additional banner exchange that could provide you with better targeting opportunities.

Consider Places You Can Advertise In Off-Line

Look for places where you can place some ads off-line where your target market is likely to find you. This could include placing flyers in various locations, or advertising in the classified sections of newspapers. Another overlooked opportunity is your business card. Ensure that it sells!

The ideas I have discussed above are just some of the things you can do to continually promote your business on the internet. It is important to remember that you need to be doing something everyday to promote your business. This list should help you get started.

Article – "Yahoo Publisher Network": Another Way to Have Your Website Earn Its Keep

Have you ever wished for someone to come along and compete with "Google's Adsense Program"? With the launch of "Yahoo's Publisher Network"(YPN) you could say that some wishes really do come true.

If you're not familiar with Adsense or YPN, both programs allow you to add specialized coding to your website pages and then display text-based ads which are related to the content on the page. For example, if you have a sports related website theme, then ads would be shown for sporting goods and services.

Google had this market cornered for a long time, but with YPN there's now some "friendly competition" -- which is a good thing for everyone involved.

Yahoo's Publisher Network (YPN) is currently in beta and only available to publishers in the United States. You can apply for the program at http://publisher.yahoo.com Word on the "Internet Street" is that Yahoo hopes to be out of beta by the end of the year and has plans for offering additional services as well.

Once accepted into the program (which they're calling "Content Match"), you'll need to log into the YPN control panel to select your ad formats and colors. There are 10 different ad unit sizes to choose from. For example: Square 250X250, Large Rectangle 336X280, Small Rectangle 180X150, Banner 468X60, and so on. Most of the sizes offered are similar to those you'll find on Google's Adsense.

Customized color schemes can be created for your ad lay- out, or you can go with any of the standard ad colors. You can set background color, text and link colors.

YPN offers full reporting and tracking capabilities. You can track up to 50 channels to find out which pages and ads are your top performers.

Once the code is in place on your pages, Yahoo will crawl your site's content to insure that relevant ads appear. If no targeted ads are available, public service ads will be shown.

YPN gives you a bit of control over competitors' ads showing up on your site, with the option of blocking up to 200 of them.

In their efforts to differentiate themselves from Adsense, YPN is also offering something called "Ad Targeting." This allows you to choose up to two ad categories for your entire site, or just for specific pages. This is done in order to target your visitors with ads based on their specific interests. This in no way guarantees that only ads from those categories will be shown; it just gives Yahoo a better idea of what types of ads you'd like to see appear on your site.

You can choose up to two categories per targeted URL, to a maximum of 50. If you don't see a category that fits your pages you can always suggest it be added. There are currently 20 categories to choose from. For example "automotive, B2B, computing," with 109 sub categories.

If you've been showing Google ads on your site for some time now and are thinking about adding YPN's to increase your revenue, keep in mind it is against Yahoo's terms of service to display any other contextual ads on the same pages as theirs. So if you want to run both programs on your site you'll have to put one on each page, or get your hands on a rotation script that will rotate both ad types, one at a time, on all pages of your site.  One such script can be found at Shoemoney http://tinyurl.com/bg3kf

Another really nice feature that Google is lacking is Yahoo's "Balance Transfer Option." If you also use Yahoo's Search Marketing Program for your pay per click advertising and you use the same user name and password for both, you can transfer money from your publisher network account at YPN to your sponsored search account. There are no minimum amounts for transfers and you'll need to manually make the request in order to move the funds, but this is a handy feature.

When it comes to payday and any earnings you may have coming to you, there is a minimum payout of $100.00 before Yahoo will cut you a check. Checks are sent 45 days after the close of the calendar month. For example, any earnings made in September will be paid to you by November 15th. I'd like to see them shorten up the pay cycles in the future, as most small entrepreneurs generally need cash sooner rather then later.

It's going to be interesting to watch this new race heat up between Google and Yahoo. Competition is always a good motivator and who knows, it may encourage Google to offer new features as well knowing they don't have the corner on the contextual market.

Article – A Simple Yet Very Powerful Way To Beat Your Negative Emotions

Negative emotions, like insecurity, fear, despair, discouragement, frustration, anger, deception can pollute your life. Throughout the day, you experience all kinds of emotions, some are positive and others are negative and painful.

Feeling positive emotions, like happiness or peace is a choice, isn't it? Negative emotions are choices as well. Consciously or unconsciously, you choose to generate a feeling.

When you feel negative about yourself or an outside event, you can say to yourself: "I am in a bad mood" or a better way to say it is: "I choose to be in a bad mood". This statement gives you more freedom and responsibility, don't you think?

This freedom and responsibility can help you choose whether you want to immediately change the kind of emotions you're experiencing or not. It is your choice to totally master your thoughts and eventually master your personal life.

Here are the following three steps to get rid of negative emotions, simply but powerfully. With some practice, you can apply it successfully in seconds. This technique is called the cloud technique.

So the next time, you experience a negative emotion, apply these three little steps:

1. The cloud symbol.

First, make a representation of the negative emotion as a cloud. Notice its shape, colour and how it moves? The representation for example could be a big, black cloud that moves around you.

2. Blow the cloud

Step out of the cloud and leave it where you were standing. Look at it, asking yourself the following questions "Is this emotion useful for me right now?" or "Is this emotion helping me as I communicate?" Now you're going to take a deep breath and blow at the cloud which will dissolve before you or float up into the blue sky and disappear. Notice how the negative emotion goes away as well.

3. Feel great

Finally, decide what you want to replace your negative emotion. Choose a new positive emotion to try such as love, kindness, peace, friendship, confidence, humour or curiosity. Imagine another cloud or a door that will represent your positive feeling. Then step into the cloud or the open door and see how you feel. By then, you should be calm, at peace or full of love. This is your choice.

This technique can be surprising at first, due to its simplicity. When you are stuck in a negative mood, it may seem like you have no choice. When you use this technique, you will be more aware of your power to change your thoughts, emotions and even your life. You will be more conscious of your inner gift, which is your free agency or your freedom to choose.

Changing your emotions in a blink of an eye is possible. It is also a choice you can make consciously. Don't let your emotions control you. You can master your life by mastering what happens inside of you. The more you apply this technique, you more you will feel great and the more you will be success in your life.
