Is Your Biz Opp a RIP-OFF or a CASH COW

by Kevin Bidwell

Every day I am asked by one of my many visitors or subscribers to evaluate the latest "business opportunity" for them.

When I write them back about why a certain "sure-fire" opportunity will most likely not work for them, they often seem mystified by the process. "How do you know?" they often ask. Well, the process is really very simple. In fact, I am going to show you how to evaluate any "business opportunity" you come across to see if it will make you money. If you will apply the tests in this article to each business opportunity you come across, you will almost never spend your money and time promoting something that will make you no money.

Here are the first two of six tests to apply to business opportunities:

Test One: Is this an MLM/Networking business?

While there are legitimate MLM companies out there, the web has spawned a large number of companies that are simply ponzi schemes in disguise. My guess is that for every decent MLM company on the web, there are 50-60 that will not make the average person any money--no matter how hard that person works. If you are looking at an MLM, a red flag should go up in your mind. Before I would pursue it, I would ask and get good answers to the following questions:

*Do the sales materials encourage you to join for free? This is a negative. You will find many people sign up, taking your time and attention, without ever making you or anyone else any profits.

*Do they sell a real product? If there is no "real" product, it is most likely a ponzi scheme in disguise.

*Is the product competitively priced? People will not buy laundry soap over the net and wait for it to be delivered unless it is much more inexpensive than the stuff at Wal-Mart or Costco.

*Is it a product people already use? It is almost impossible to maintain sales for a product you have to constantly re-sell to your distributors.

*Is it being promoted by reputable people? Many people wrote me saying they lost money in CashEvolution. If they had seen Mark Joyner’s previous promotions, possibly they wouldn’t have joined him in CE. Just because you know someone’s name doesn’t make them credible.

Even if I can make money here, can the people I recruit? Because I have a large mailing list of people interested in online business, I can make money with almost any MLM. Why don’t I? Simple: the people I am promoting it to wouldn’t make any money. It wouldn’t be ethical for me to tell them they can.

Test Two: Does the product or service have limited competition?

In order to make significant money, you have to be able to offer a product or service with as little identical competition as possible. What is identical competition? Well, one example would be a replicated site. If you join a business opportunity and everyone has an identical site, you are unlikely to make much money from that opportunity -- there are too many people out there offering exactly the same product for exactly the same price.

In part II I look at the last four tests. (Part II appears next issue)
